| Movie Reviews
We here at shameface take great pride in having
seen some of the worst movies of all time. Yes, we actually enjoy
sitting through films like Plan 9 From Outer Space, Eegah!,
Reefer Madness, and Teenagers from Outer Space. These
movies are so incredibly bad that many have vanished into obscurity
never to be seen by more than a few thousand, or even few hundred
people. Some are good, some are bad, and some are so bad that they're
good. Here they are, sorted alphabetically - all of our movie reviews!
Blood Gnome
Color • USA • 2003 • Horror
Ever wonder what happens to those nice folks that just couldn't make it in the adult film industry? Neither did we, but we unwittingly stumbled upon the answer when we picked up Blood Gnome for $3.99 at Albertson's.
A Bucket of Blood
B&W • USA • 1959 • Horror
When we found this movie sitting among other
$5 DVD's, we expected the worst. We were surprised, however, to
learn that there actually were some decent elements to A Bucket
of Blood. Director Roger Corman later became well known for
The Little Shop of Horrors, but this movie is certainly
not without its charms.
Carnival of Souls
B&W • USA • 1962 • Horror
The
story behind the making of Carnival of Souls is perhaps
as interesting as the movie itself. That's saying a lot, because
this movie is one of the most unique and interesting horror films
of the 1960s.
Cheerleader Massacre Color • USA • 2003 • Horror
Oh No! High School cheerleaders in their thirties
are being threatened by a psychotic killer in between softcore porn
scenes. What ever will we do? Call the police? The Sheriff? A senior
producer at PlayboyTV? Yes, with the large amounts of nudity and
lack of plot, Cheerleader Massacre plays out much more
like an edited Cinemax flick than a sexy thriller.
Cheerleader
Ninjas
Color • USA • 2002 • Comedy
Any
movie with the word "Cheerleader" in the title is bound
to have three things: bare breasts, bad acting, and a dumb excuse
of a plot to put a bunch of young blonde actresses in short skirts.
Cheerleader Ninjas delivers on all three points, and goes
on to prove that the gratuitous use of body doubles, cheesy sound
effects, blow up dolls, and fart jokes can enhance
a movie.
Death Race 2000
Color • USA • 1975 • Action/Comedy
The year is 2000. 70s fashions are hip again, Sylvester Stallone is in his late 20s, and Americans really hate the French. Well at least these guys got one thing right when trying to predict the future.
Eegah!
Color • USA • 1964 • Horror
Eegah! is considered by many to be the worst movie ever
made. We think we've seen worse, but there's no denying that Arch
Hall Sr's caveman epic is among the most poorly made motion pictures
of all time. Hall cast himself, his son, and his secretary in the
lead roles, and all three of them are low on talent.
Ghetto Freaks
Color • USA • 1970 • Drama
Sonny and friends are hippies. They spend
their days spreading hippie psycho-babble around town. A typical
day may involve being arrested, demonstrating against the establishment,
and begging for spare change. Evening activities include smoking
the reefer, group sex, cheating the city out of bus fare, and not
bathing.
Godzilla vs. Mothra
Color • Japan • 1964 • Sci-Fi
This early Godzilla film is low on special effects, but makes it up for it with an engaging story and some decent English dubbing. Also included are tiny Japanese twins that control giant Japanese moths. And there's giant eggs.
Idaho Transfer
Color • USA • 1973 • Sci-Fi
Idaho Transfer is a strangely enjoyable sci-fi film from director Peter Fonda. I say strangely enjoyable because the film is so plagued with problems that one would expecct nothing of interest to come out of it. Thoe movie somehow manages to narrowly dodge the "good idea, ruined in execution" category and really does make you think.
Laser Mission
Color • USA • 1990 • Action
Bruce Lee's son stars in this movie about....well we're not sure. This movie is so poorly constructed that the plot is damn near incomprehensible. If you search around a little, you'll find as many as four or five different plots this movie supposedly has. We're still confused about this one.
Rodentz
Color • USA • 2001 • Horror
Rodentz, also known as Altered Species,
has the dubious distinction of being one of the worst low-budget
horror films of the last decade. "Hide the cheese" says
the front. "Classic creature feature" says the back".
"This looks bad" says Mike. "I agree. Let's get it."
says I. And that's how we stumbled across this rat's rear end of
a film.
Scarecrow Gone Wild
Color • USA • 2004 • Horror
When asked by several people what exactly
Scarecrow Gone Wild was, I joked with them that all it
took to get a scarecrow to show its privates was a little alcohol
and a t-shirt. There is an ample amount of nudity
in this film, but thankfully it's not a cheap straw knock-off of
Girls Gone Wild.
